November 6, 1992: IFCO/Pastors for Peace 1st Friendshipment Caravan & the Seattle/Cuba Friendship Committee

On this date, Seattle solidarity activists gathered at Seattle's University Baptist Church to send off donated medical and school supplies to Cuba. Long-time Cuba supporter Tom Warner loaned his Toyota Corolla for the trip to the Mexican border for this first IFCO/Pastors for Peace Friendshipment Caravan to Cuba. The caravan crosssed the border into Mexico and the supplies were carried to Cuba on a boat, eventually getting to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center in Havana, Cuba. Tom Warner's Toyota Corolla, having carried caravanistas and medical supplies to Mexico, made it back to Seattle.

And thus was born the Seattle/Cuba Friendship Committee.
