June 19, 2006: Seattle 18th Friendshipment Caravan Send Off

Secretary Tom Warner wrote in an e-mail: "Monday, June 19th: on Monday evening at 6pm . 8pm there will be a potluck and send off of the bus from el Centro. There will be music and the participants in the Caravan will be there to explain their mission. And then everyone will fall to and load all of the material aid on the bus and it will head south for other cities to pick up more Caravanistas and more material aid and on to Texas where the bus will rendezvous with busses from many other routes and cross the border to a Mexican port where volunteer longshoremen will load the valuable cargo on a freighter for the short trip to Cuba. The Caravanistas will fly for a short trip and beat the cargo by a few days. The Cubans - always grateful - celebrate the arrival of the Friendshipment with a big celebration. They are particularly heartened by the fact that the people, whose government is so threatening, are so friendly."
